Tax Manager/Senior Manager – St. John’s Submission Due Date 03/31/25

Noseworthy Chapman Chartered Professional Accountants is expanding our team and is seeking a Manager / Senior Manager candidate for a permanent, full-time position in our Tax group.

The successful candidate will join our Tax team to help bring tax-efficient solutions to our corporate clients and their shareholders.  You will be part of an integrated team that will:

  • Apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify, and address tax issues relevant to the client’s business
  • Analyze client situations and create actionable plans to utilize business and tax advantages.  This includes preparing and reviewing tax reorganizations, and reviewing corporate, trust, estate and personal tax returns
  • Provide both technical and project management leadership to team members for domestic Tax projects 
  • Build positive working relationships with clients and provide effective support for engagements
  • Participate in providing internal training and development 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • CPA designation as well as the CPA/CICA In-Depth Tax Program
  • 5 or more years’ experience in public accounting with a specialization in Tax for a minimum of 3 years
  • Extensive understanding of relevant tax legislation, corporate, personal and trust tax planning and compliance, particularly working with private corporations and their shareholders
  • In-depth knowledge of GST/HST would be an asset
  • Have a strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail along with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be a proven problem solver with solid analytical skills

The Opportunity

Are you a seasoned accounting professional looking to make a meaningful impact? We’re hiring an Internal Firm Accountant to lead the internal financial operations of Noseworthy Chapman (NC) and Janes & Noseworthy Limited (JNL). Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a high-visibility role that blends financial leadership with operational insight.

You’ll be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, managing payroll and benefits, overseeing budgeting processes, and supporting firm-wide systems and facilities. This is your chance to contribute to the strategic direction of two respected firms with over 40 years of success in Atlantic Canada.

What You’ll Do

Financial Leadership

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and variance reports
  • Present financial insights to the CEO and partners
  • Manage accounts payable and support receivables and collections
  • Lead budgeting, year-end reporting, and industry survey submissions

Payroll & Benefits

  • Administer payroll and government filings
  • Manage group benefits and liaise with insurance providers
  • Support HR with onboarding and grant applications

Systems & Reporting

  • Oversee time and billing systems and ensure policy compliance
  • Train staff and develop custom reports for decision-making

Facilities Oversight

  • Manage office space, renovations, and vendor relationships

What You Bring

  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience in a professional services or multi-entity environment is an asset
