My favorite part of my job is dealing with people. Both the staff that I get to help train and mentor (and learn from!) and the clients that I get to help be more successful every day.

Ian is a dad of three; Olivia, who is in Grade 11 and plays volleyball and basketball at a provincial level; Grade-9 student Alexandra, who dances and plays guitar; and Lucas, who is in Grade 7 and swims and plays baseball.

Ian Penney has been helping people and businesses in financial difficulty for 20 years, leading the province’s largest group of personal debt counsellors and insolvency and restructuring professionals.

When he’s not working, Ian loves snowmobiling, wine tasting, travel and vintage cars.

Ian’s favourite vacation is a tie between a Western Caribbean cruise with his kids and a trip to Memphis and Nashville for great music and food with friends.

Ian graduated from Memorial University in 1992, received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1994, the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professional designation in 2000, and Trustee in Bankruptcy licence in 2001.

His greatest professional accomplishment is being a partner at Noseworthy Chapman and president of  Janes & Noseworthy Ltd.

Ian has served as president of the Rotary Club of St. John’s, chair of the Historic Sites Association of Newfoundland and Labrador and a board member of Viasource; an incubator for small business.
